Ada Janene (Godsey) Clark
Ada Janene Clark, 54, of Poteau, OK, passed away Wednesday, December 27, 2017, in Fayetteville, AR. She was born January 2, 1963 in Houston, TX to Samuel and Linda (Smith) Godsey. She was a Home Health Aide and she was one week shy of her next birthday.
She died quite unexpectedly after complications due to previously undiagnosed Metastatic Cancer with post-hysterectomy surgery complications, at Washington Regional Hospital in Fayetteville just before 7:30 the freezing cold morning of December 27, 2017.
They had just discovered stage 2 cervical cancer the week before her surgery, but further testing after she was readmitted to the hospital on the 26th discovered that she had metastatic cancer all through her body. She developed blood clots in her lungs and had to be intubated. She never recovered. Her heartbroken daughter Alicia Ann Dale was by her side.
After the death of her husband, David Clark, she moved from Houston Texas to Poteau, OK to be near her daughter and be with her grandchildren. They filled her heart with joy and were able to create many happy memories together. There she met and fell for Randy Smith, a musician at their favorite cafe.
She was preceded in death by her father, Samuel W Godsey III in 2006, and by her mother, Linda Darline (Smith) Godsey who died in 2015.
Janene grew up with parents who enjoyed taking their family of 5 on regular fishing/camping trips, exploring the waters edge and nearby foliage and climbing trees with her older sisters at Galveston beach and nearby rivers. Janene spent many holidays & vacation bible school days at Grandmas house with her many aunts, uncles, and later-cousins.
As a teen and young woman, Janene proved to be a caring and uplifting person, making others smile in the most unusual ways... by whistling at a guy walking down the road (just to make him smile), or making passengers of other cars passing on the high ways stare and laugh and point at the bobbing wolf mask her siblings playfully took turns wearing. (Of course, she wore it best!). Janene was an attentive care-giver to physically and mentally challenged persons.
She adored time with her kids and grandkids... and living near her beautiful daughter Alicia and her kids... and sharing music and fun times with her friends at the local cafe.
Janene was the blonde-haired blue-eyed (had daddys blue eyes) baby of the family, the youngest of 3 girls. When they were kids they had CB names. Dad was Saltwater Sam, mom was Sun blister and then there was Shrimp 1, 2 and Janene, because of birth order was Shrimp 3. She felt happy and safe and loved in daddys great big growly bear hugs and was completely devastated when he unexpectedly died in his sleep one night in 2006.
Janene has just 2 siblings, Linda Lynn (Godsey) Jacobs, 2 years her senior, living in Cypress, Texas, and Katherin Ann Godsey, the middle sis, living in Cleveland, Texas. Janene has 3 nieces, Ginger, Kimberly, and Amber (Hall)... and 3 nephews; EC & Chris Walker, and Shawn Hall, all living in Texas. Weve loved each other dearly and will miss Janene very, very much.
Janene has 2 children, David S. Turrentine, of Kerrville, Texas, and Alicia Ann (Turrentine) Dale of Poteau, OK.Janenes grandchildren are Cheyenne Turrentine, David D. Turrentine
