Allen Gene E. Burton, 76, of Spiro, OK, passed away Wednesday, September 15, 2010, in Fort Smith, AR. He was born March 13, 1934, in Fairview, OK, to Albert Allen and Allie Fair (Greenwood) Burton. He married Coleen Lovell on April 25, 1953, in Van Buren, AR. He was a member of the Spiro Free Will Baptist Church. He was a cowboy, horse trainer, had Burtons Furniture Upholstery in Spiro for 33 years, and he loved coaching any sport (especially the winning Spiro Ninjas).
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Don Burton.
He is survived by his wife, Coleen Burton of the home; four daughters, Flossie Burton of Spiro, OK, Frances and husband James Bone of Spiro, OK, Debbie and husband Vonnie Miller of Spiro, OK, Donna and husband Chad Jackson of Spiro, OK; one brother, James Burton of Spiro, OK; one sister Robbie Pipkins of Pocola, OK; seven grandchildren, Makayla Dennis, Shawna Jones, Christa Seitz, Jacob Bone, Austin Miller, Josh Napier, Denise Caldwell, and Allie Jackson; thirteen great grandchildren as well as numerous other family, friends and loved ones.
Pallbearers will be Tony Gillespie, Nathan Smith, Brian Jackson, Brad Jackson, Ryan McKinney, Brad McKinney and Joe McKinney. Honorary pallbearers will be the Spiro graduating class of 2003.
Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, September 18, 2010, at Murray Spur Free Will Baptist in Spiro, OK, with Rev. Pete Butler officiating. Interment will follow service at Fairview Cemetery, Panama, OK. Family will greet friends from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, Friday, September 17, 2010, at the funeral home.
