Obituary

Arthur Alton Happy Culp

Happy, a nickname given to him as a young child, left this world on December 16th in Poteau, Ok. Before moving to Poteau 5 years ago he lived in Marlow, OK.
Happy was born on June 16, 1923 in Dunbar, OK to Gilbert Henry Culp and Leavy (Dodson) Culp. He grew up in the country of South Eastern OK, riding a horse to school and town and jumping a train occasionally to get to the big city of Hugo. When WWII broke out, Happy was fifteen. At the age of sixteen, he enlisted into the Army Air Force. He became a tail gunner on a B-24 and flew over 50 Combat Missions. He was a Hero.
After the war, he came home, started a family, and got an education. He graduated from what was then Oklahoma Agriculture and Mechanical College, now Oklahoma State University, with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture. Happy had many different jobs all relating to farm equipment and agriculture. He eventually owned and operated a tractor dealership, and he was able to achieve a dream of raising cattle and hay and owning horses. This was his passion.
Hap is survived by his wife Nadine Culp of Oklahoma City, son and daughter in law Doug and Robin Culp of Las Vegas, Nevada, daughter Nancy Dee Carsello of Poteau, and granddaughter Keely Marie Carsello of Poteau.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Carroll , and sisters Allene, Thelma, Anita and Opal.
A celebration of Happys life will be held at The Oaks Healthcare Center on Dec 23rd at 10:30 am.
