She is proceeded in death by her Father: Archiebald Richard John Buchanan and her mother: Constance Agnes Buchanan
She was a survivor. She survived many heart-ships, yet she was a fighter she just kept going. There is one thing she always said: Brokkie, you win some battles and you loose some battles. This is a battle she lost. She was a prolific writer, starting a newspaper from the ground up Writing stories of an imaginary woman, with no teeth called Maraai (which I think was her nemesis in sharp humour)The smell of her perfume be it Panache or Youre the Fire
Always a cigarette in hand. Her incredible crochet work she did, her patience in teaching a very obnoxious little girl, Starting a library from scratch and the smell of new books and her excitement over each one. Every hobby she tackled with enthusiasm, her greatest hobby her love for gardening her solitude this is where she prayed, while she worked. Piano playing was her escape from every day hardships and reality. She had many favourite hymns, one of them being: It is well with my Soul She was greatly misunderstood, her mind was above average and she could see through anyone.
Her greatest joy was her grandchildren here she threw herself into being a Granny and she excelled over and above the call of duty here, her grandkids rocked her world. She did not mind sharing ideas, recipes and was quick to put them in their place but oh, did she love them. She leaves behind her husband Patrick Patton
Her 3 children:
-Judy van Schalkwyk (eldest child) - widowed
Her 2 grand children, Josh and Essie van Rooyen
-Boetie (Ziggy) Scholtz (middle child), married to Deon Maree
-Menis Scholtz (youngest child), married to Tamryn
Her 2 grandchildren, Caden Scholtz van Guilder and Lexi Scholtz
In her own words: This is not the end of the book
Fly high and free, sweet child of God
No more pain or tears
No misunderstand
Always loved
Never forgotten
