Robert H. Graves, Jr. 72, of Poteau, Oklahoma, died August 8, 2014 at his home.
Bob Graves and his family moved to Poteau in 1972 from his hometown of Fort Smith, Arkansas. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann, daughter Christy Walker, son Randy Graves, a daughter-in-law, DLeisa Graves, and two granddaughters, Ashley Walker of Oklahoma City and Sydney Graves of Poteau, a sister, Mary Jane Allen of Fort Smith, brother-in-law, James Lilly of Poteau, and a sister-in-law and spouse, Jean and Roger Post of Davis, California. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert H. Graves Sr., mother, Edna Earl Graves, and two grandsons, Garrett and Grant Graves.
Bob Graves career was in the banking industry and with ECS 15 civil services in Fort Chaffee. In addition, he served his country for a total of 30 years in the United States Army and the Army Reserves.
He was a former member of the Lions Club and the Gideons International. He was also dedicated to other community activities including coaching little league and volunteering during the election process.
Bob Graves was a God-fearing Christian, lived his life accordingly, and was an active member of Cross Community Church for many years. In retirement, much of his time was spent helping his church including the bus maintenance ministry, the food pantry and the Samaritan Kitchen program.
Service will be Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at 11:00 am at Cross Community Church with interment to follow at Oakland Cemetery Poteau. Services under the direction of Grace Manor Funeral Home of Poteau. The family will greet friends Monday, August 11, 2014 from 4:30-6:30 pm at Grace Manor Funeral Home.
