Obituary For
Carl Leroy Monks
Carl Leroy Monks, 90, of Grove, OK, and formerly of Shady Point, OK, passed away Wednesday, November 23, 2016, in Grove. He was born January 2, 1926, at Okmulgee, OK, to Roy and Hazel (Humphries) Monks. He was a member of Poteau Trinity Baptist Church and worked in road construction.
Preceding him in death were his parents; and sisters, Lois Ritter, Lavon Swanson and Dorothy Pickering.
Survivors include his wife Erma Monks of Grove, OK, two daughters, Lynda Lance (Dennis) of Weiser, ID and Tonya DAmico (Mike) of Reno, NV, grandchildren, Michelle, Jason, April and Ashley, eight great grandchildren, a sister Bernice Weaver of Panama, OK, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was blessed upon his marriage to Erma, to be able to add a son, Roy ODell, and daughter Doreen Forrester whom he grew to love like his own and has preceded him in death. Carl is survived by daughter-in-law Ellen ODell, son-in-law Chuck Forrester; granddaughters Jennifer Brodrick (Jeremy), Rebecca Page (Jared), Brooke Kasbaum (Breck) and Hillary Mottern (Ryan) and nine great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 28, 2016, at Trinity Baptist Church with Pastor Leroy Billy officiating. Interment will follow the service at Old Bokoshe Cemetery, Bokoshe, OK. Services are under the direction of Grace Manor Funeral Home of Poteau, OK.
