Viewing for Carole Joan Mize, 79 of Poteau, Oklahoma will be held Friday December 31, 2021 from 2:00pm - 4:00pm at Grace Funeral Service in Poteau, Oklahoma. Memorial Graveside Services will be held at a later date at Oakland Cemetery in Poteau, Oklahoma under the direction of Grace Funeral Service in Poteau, Oklahoma.
Joan was born on September 20, 1942 in Oceanside, California to Barbara (Bessire) Gildersleeve and James Wiegand. She passed away on December 28, 2021 in Poteau, Oklahoma. Joan and Glenn were married on June 17, 1961 in Escondido, California. Joan was preceded in death by her Mother, Barbara Gildersleeve; Father, James Wiegand; and Step-father, Vance Gildersleeve. She was a homemaker who collected dolls and loved to sew and read. Most of all she was a God loving woman. Joan and Glenn were active members of Cross Community Church where Joan was a part of the womens ministry.
Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Glenn Mize, sons, Glenn "Dale" Mize, Jr. and wife Paula; Steven James Mize and wife Margaret; daughter, Christi Grim and husband Brian; grandchildren, Macy Mize, Dalton Mize, Shelby Mize, Donya Hoffman, Nate Mize, Jillian Mize, Peyton Grim, Eli Grim, Justin Grim; great grandchildren, Josie Hoffman and Lincoln Hoffman; brothers, Niel Wiegand and wife Beth; Jim Wiegand and wife Janette; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and loved ones.
