Obituary

CECIL BRANNON HARDIN
Cecil Brannon Hardin, born March 21, 1918 in Shady Point, Oklahoma, to Oscar and Maud Brannon passed away at the age of 95 on September 1, 2013 at Baptist Village Evergreen Care Center in Owasso, Oklahoma.
Cecil went to school at Knothole and Shady Point schools where she enjoyed playing basketball. On January 2, 1935 she eloped with her school sweetheart, Jesse W. Hardin. They raised three children and celebrated 69 years together until his death in July of 2004.
She devoted her life to family, taking over many of the household responsibilities as a young girl when her mother was ill for an extended period of time. She was the fifth child of eight and in later years her siblings expressed their appreciation to her for keeping the family together. As a wife, mother and grandmother, her family was her life. She was known for her cooking, canning, gardening, sewing and crocheting abilities as well as her friendships and smile. She made crocheted afghans for her children and grandchildren and special blankets for all of her great-grandchildren. She loved her church, Southside Baptist Church in Poteau, and remained active as long as her health allowed.
She was predeceased by her husband, all of her siblings, son-in-law Robin Vaught and daughter-in-law, Martha Bramlett Hardin.
She is survived by her son, Larry of Oklahoma City, daughter and son-in-law Carol and Ken Tobler of Tulsa, daughter, Marilyn Vaught of Gladewater, Texas, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Larry Hardin, Jeffrey Hardin, Kenneth Tobler, Michael Tobler, John Collis and Jim Newberg.
Service will be 10:30 AM Saturday, September 7 at Grace Manor Memorial Chapel in Poteau with Ken Tobler officiating. Interment will follow at Oakland Cemetery Poteau OK. Services are under the direction of Grace Manor Funeral Home, Poteau.
