Christine Hanley
Christine Hanley, 95, of Poteau, OK, formerly of Mesa, Arizona, and Adair, Iowa, passed away March 26, 2016, in Poteau, OK; with her son James Hanley and daughter in-law Linda, at her side. She was born October 2, 1920 in Montreal, Canada, to Dominic Anthony Vacca and Madilyn Maria Mastricola. She was preceded in death by her late husband John Joseph Hanley, son Steve Hanley, grandson Kevin, sisters Dorothy Vacca, Marie Arcano and Yolanda Santerre. She is survived by her two sons James Hanley of Poteau, OK and Michael Hanley of Des Moines, Iowa; two sisters Jenny Richter of Adair, Iowa, and Pauline Miller of Manchester, New Hampshire; as well as four grandchildren; 10 great grand children; and three great great grandchildren. She was an active member of the national Cactus Waves unit 114 in Mesa, AZ and served in World War II as a communication specialist in the United States Navy. For many years she worked at Jenny and Art Restaurant as a waitress and hostess; but primarily she was a homemaker. Pallbearers will be Jeff Hanley, James Hanley, Joe Hanley, Doug Richter, Brian Richter and Gary Richter. Viewing will be held in Poteau, OK on Tuesday, March 29, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Grace Manor funeral home for friends and family in Oklahoma. Family will greet friends from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. Christine will be buried in Adair, Iowa. There will be a visitation held on Thursday, March 31, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Hockenberry Family Care Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, April 1, at St. Johns Catholic Church in Adair, with Father Higgins officiating. Burial will be in St. Johns Catholic Cemetery in Adair with full Military Honors. A time for fellowship with family and friends will be at a luncheon at the church fellowship hall following burial. Hockenberry Family Care Funeral Home is helping the family with arrangements.
