Cody Lynn Hill
Visitation for Cody Lynn Hill, who died August 1, 2017, will be 5-7 PM,Thursday evening, August 3, 2017, at Grace Manor Funeral Home. Cody was born April 19, 1946, in Great Bend, KS, to Horace H. Hill and Rita Dowell Hill. He is survived by his longtime companion, Teresa Grafton of the home, one daughter, Kelli Ford and son-in-law, Micheal Ford of Poteau, one granddaughter, Kody Ford Potter and husband Cody of Poteau, one grandson, Jason Ford and wife Nicole of Poteau, step-son Jordan Scott of Poteau, step-daughter Chanda Scott o Tacoma, WA, a brother Terry Hill and wife Barbara of Hector, AR, cousin David McGee and wife DeLaina of Lavaca, AR, aunt Nadine Tucker of CA, longtime friend and ex-wife, Ann Hill of Poteau, and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Horace Hill, and mother Helen Rita Dowell Hill Bryant.
Cody was a 1st. Lt. in the 45th. Infantry National Guard, having joined at age 17. His first passion was for horses after his dad started him riding when he was 5 years of age. While in his teens he started playing the guitar and singing. Those of you who knew him also knew he did both very well.
Cody loved riding his horses and Harley Davidson motorcycles. He worked on several large cattle ranches back when cowboys still rode horses to round up, pen and work cattle. He worked on the Kerr Foundation, Arkansas Valley Farms, Johnny Cake Charolais Ranch in McCurtain, OK and Mansfield, AR, and Triple T Angus Ranch at Panama, OK. He gave up the cowboy life and worked in the oil field for several years, before buying a big rig and hitting the road as owner/operator until he retired.
Cody loved God and read his Bible daily. He often said he felt closer to God when riding his horse up on Sugarloaf Mountain with just him, nature, and God.
Honorary pallbearers are Jordan Scott, Daniel Miller, David Butler, Jesse Owens, Travis Loggains and Todd Loggains.
