Ethel Gist, 90, of Poteau, OK, passed away Sunday, August 9, 2015, in Wister, OK. She was born June 18, 1925, at Lone Pine, OK. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Vinie (Hensley) Hines, her beloved husband LaFayette Gist, three brothers and five sisters.
Ethel is survived by a son Michael Gist of Wister, OK; two daughters, Denise Chitwood and husband Steve of Wister, OK and Karen Hall and husband Randy of Poteau; nine grandchildren, Angela Wade, Leslie Wade and husband Ben Davidson, Scott Wade and wife Tami Wade; Joe Wade, Kirstie Thomas, Seth Hall and Zane Hall; one great grandchild Lyla Davidson; a brother Welton Hines of Wisconsin; as well as a host of nieces, nephews and other family members, friends and loved ones.
Pallbearers will be Scott Wade, Ben Davidson, Charles Monroe, Charles Browning, Eddy Hines, David Browning and Joe Wade.
Service will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 11, 2015, at Sugarloaf Christian Fellowship, Monroe, OK, with Pastor Les Scroggins officiating. Interment will follow service at 12:00 p.m. at Fort Smith National Cemetery, Fort Smith, AR. Family will greet friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.
