Obit for Frances (Ellis) Gibson
Frances (Ellis) Gibson, 98, of Wister, passed away on Friday, July 18, 2014, in Poteau. She was born December 6, 1915, in Abbott, Ar. to Claud and Leafer Ellis. The family moved to Wister when Frances was a small child. She married Athel (Slim) Gibson on March 17, 1934. They were blessed with two sons. She was a homemaker until her boys started school, and then became a LPN. She retired as a surgical scrub and office nurse. Frances was a member of the Wister Nazarene Church. She was a Sunday school teacher, Missionary President and taught bible school.
Frances was proceeded in death by her husband, Athel (Slim) Gibson; one son Bill Gibson; granddaughter, Alicia Sue (Gibson) Long; five brothers, Henry, Leroy, John, Sorrel and Caleb Ellis; three sisters Claudia Baldwin, Mary Baldwin and Erma Miller.
She is survived by one son, Gene and wife Beverly, of Broken Arrow, OK; daughter in law, Mary, of Wister, OK; four grandchildren, five great grandchildren, six great great grandchildren and a host of other family friends and loved ones.
Services will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at Wister Nazarene Church with Rev. PJ Atkinson officiating. Interment will follow in Maxie Cemetery Wister, OK.
