James D. Melton 76, of Poteau, OK, passed away Saturday, March 13, 2010, in Ft. Smith, AR.
James was born July 10, 1933, in OKC, OK, to James Esther and Lala (McGinnis) Melton. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in Korea and Vietnam and was a retired Civil Service employee. James received his certificate in Bible from GRSBM.
James was preceded in death by his parents, a son James D. Melton, II and a brother Quincy Day Melton
James is survived his wife of 49 years, Priscilla (Johnson) Melton of Poteau; two sons, James Edwin Melton and wife Cynthia of Shady Point, OK, and Joseph Patrick Melton and wife Michelle of Rialto, CA; a daughter Rebekah Anne Melton of Poteau; a brother Larry Dean Melton of FL; two sisters, Jovita Ann Cooper of Poteau and Dixie Darlene Munchief of Ft. Smith, AR; seven grandchildren and a great grandchild on the way; as well as numerous other family, friends and loved ones.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, March 18, 2010, at the Immanuel Baptist Church, Poteau, OK, with Bro. Bryan Fields conduct the service. Cremation services under the direction of Grace Manor Funeral Home, Poteau, OK. You may leave condolence to the family at www.gracemanorfh.com
