Kathryn Marie
Hickerson
Apr 19, 1954 — Feb 24, 2026
Fort Smith
Kathryn Marie (Phillips) Fisher Hickerson was born on April 19, 1954 to Mary Lou (Prater) Phillips and Marvin Odean Phillips. She passed away from this life on February 24, 2026 at the age of 71.
Kathryn always lived with or by her mother. Kathryn worked in DeQueen, Arkansas at the chicken factory in the 1970's. Later, they moved to Greenville, Texas. Her mother and step-dad bought a minnow shop there and Kathryn worked there until late 1980's. She moved to Fort Smith, Arkansas to be with her sister and two nephews.
Kathryn had to go to the nursing home in 2012. She loved her visits with her Aunt Peggy and her children. They sometimes took her shopping and out to eat dinner which she really enjoyed. They would come and have Thanksgiving dinner with her at the nursing home. She was so happy when they came. She loved playing Bingo. Kathryn knew Jesus as her Savior, so we'll see her again in Heaven.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Lou (Prater) Peebles and her step-father Martin Peebles; her father, Marvin Odean Phillips and step-mother; her husband, Billie Joe Hickerson; a nephew, Mark Phillips; a sister, Sharon Louise Phillips-Hickerson; and a brother, James Odean Phillips; and a sister-in-law, Judy Phillips.
She is survived by two aunts, Peggy Edwards of Cameron, Oklahoma and Linda Massey of Antlers, Oklahoma; three nephews, James Eric Phillips, William "Willy" Marshall, and Billy Joe "B.J." Hickerson II; one niece, Jennifer (Phillips) Taylor; and many cousins whom she was proud of.
A memorial service to honor Kathryn's life will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, March 2, 2026 at the Greenhill Cemetery Pavilion in Cameron, Oklahoma with Mr. Freddie Edwards officiating.
Cremation arrangements are under the care of Dowden-Roberts Funeral & Cremation Center of Poteau, Oklahoma. "LeFlore County's First and Only Onsite Crematory"
