Obituary For
Lela Lorain Duke
Lela Lorain Duke, 78, of Spiro, OK, passed away Monday, October 29, 2018, in Spiro, OK. She was born July 10, 1940, in Las Cruces, NM, to Gusona Neal Martin and Velva T. (Flaherty) Martin.
Lela was an active member of the Fort Coffee Senior Center. She loved her dog Ben, and Ben loved her. She never met a stranger. Everyone in her apartment village called her "Mama," and they seem to gather at "Mama" Lelas place or on her front porch. She instantly connected with her caregiver, Connie, who became like a daughter to her. Lela loved her immediate, and extended, family. She will be greatly missed.
Lela is preceded in death by her parents, a daughter LeAnna Michelle Duke and four brothers.
Lela is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law: Charles & Kelly Duke of Bristol, TN, and Matthew & Angela Duke of Pocola, OK; four grandchildren: Adam, Caitlin, Zachary, and Abigail Duke; three sisters: Deloris Jobe and husband Fred of Westcliffe, CO, Lula Brueske of Wisconsin, and Jewel Dart of Fort Smith, AR; caregiver Connie Zeiler; her dog Ben, as well as a host of other family members, friends and loved ones.
Pallbearers will be Adam Duke, Zachary Duke, Steve Jobe, Ray Erwin, Darren Martin, Danny Erwin, and Tim Renfro.
Service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 2, 2018, at Pocola Cross Community Church Pocola. Oklahoma Pastors, Matthew Duke and Jason Waymire, officiating. Interment will follow service at Keota Cemetery, Keota, Oklahoma. Arrangements are under the direction of Grace Manor Funeral Home, Poteau, OK. Viewing will be 9:00 a.m. 5:00 p.m. Thursday at Grace Manor Funeral Home Spiro. The family will be receiving visitors from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Cross Community Church in Pocola, on Thursday.
