Lester William French of Poteau, Oklahoma was born June 27, 1954 in Bellflower, California and passed away December 25, 2019 in Fort Smith, Arkansas at the age of 65.
Lester is survived by two daughters Tonia and Shawn Armstrong of Poteau, Oklahoma, and Twila and J.W. Hightower of McAlester, Oklahoma, a son Christopher French of Heavener, Oklahoma, four sisters Terry Burr of Hastings, Minnesota, Debbie Burr of Hastings, Minnesota, Mary Edgeberg of Menomonie, Wisconsin, and Kimberly Burr of Menomonie, Wisconsin, five brothers, Larry French of Shady Point, Oklahoma, Roy Mallette Jr. of Menomonie, Wisconsin, Walter (Butch) Mallette of Hastings Minnesota, Mike Burr of Hasting, Minnesota, and Tim Burr of Poteau, Oklahoma, birth mother Beverly Mallette Burr, grandchildren Amber White, Joe Chisenhall, Krissy Chisenhall, Trevor French, Praire Whinery, Summit Whinery, Shawn Armstrong Jr., Aerial Armstrong, and Hunter Armstrong, great grandchildren Aidin, Lily, Gabriel, and Harmony, other family and friends.
Lester was preceded in death by his biological father Roy Mallette, Sr., mother Ida French Clough, father Thomas Edward French, and stepfather Emmett Clough. Lester was a member of Gospel Tabernacle Church in Poteau. He loved to attend church and fellowship with his church family.
Pallbearers will be J.R Collins, Jeff Gibson, Kyle Dennis, Ethan Firestine, Jonas Bourne, Dan Burton, Charley Dunn, and Randal Dunn. Honorary pallbearers will be Aaron Daniels, Clarence Hayes, Jack Hayes, and Chad French.
Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, December 30, 2019 at Gospel Tabernacle Church in Poteau, Oklahoma with Brother Carl Daniels and Brother David Dennis officiating. Burial will follow at Summerfield Cemetery in Summerfield, Oklahoma. There will be no viewing or visitation. The services are under the direction of Grace Funeral Services of Poteau, Oklahoma.
