L.G.
Williams
Apr 5, 1932 — Oct 10, 2017
Rev. L. G. Williams, 85, of Rock Island, OK, was born April 5, 1932 at Rock Island to Arthur and Frankie Williams. As a young man at home he became affectionately known as T Model. He was married to his wife Edna for almost 62 years prior to her passing in 2013. He received his call to the ministry in 1958. His first pastorate was in Wyoming, IL from 1959 -1964. He felt God leading his family on a new mission in Columbus, KS, so in 1964 he moved there with his wife and two sons. From 1964 -1968 he pastored in Columbus and Baxter Springs, KS. After taking a short leave from the ministry, during a family illness, his wife (Edna) discussed with him that she felt God leading them to start a home mission church in Galena, KS. In 1969 this home mission church began in what used to be an old laundry mat in downtown Galena. In 1970, through lots of prayer and Gods' help, they found some property south of Galena and built a beautiful new building known as Parkhill Church of the Nazarene. He had often said it was one of the prettiest valleys in the Midwest. After a few years in Galena, they felt called to go back to his roots in Oklahoma and they pastored a few churches in Oklahoma and Arkansas, from 1982-1992
In October 1992 they began a home mission church right here on the property where he grew up as a young boy. The first service was conducted under the carport at their home. With Gods help they found an older home to move to this location where we are today and started having services. Through lots of hard work and prayer, over the next 2-4 years, this sanctuary was built and then the Sunday School annex was added to make room for the children and others to have class room space. In 2008 his health began to decline and he had a heart valve replacement, he eventually retired and has lived here on the property ever since. He and his wife had family gatherings here and events for the kids such as roasting marshmallows, grilling hot dogs, etc. They both loved children very much, and that was the focus of their ministry throughout their lives, children are the future of tomorrow.
