Obituary

Mabel Frances (Gould) Whiteaker, our beloved mother, age 93, died on June 17, 2010, at Chapel Ridge Health and Rehabilitation in Fort Smith. Her life was full of friends and family and she will be missed by everyone who knew her.
Frances was born and raised in Poteau, Oklahoma. She worked for 35 years at Dixie Cup (now James River), and was also a member of the First Baptist Church in Fort Smith for that length of time. She is survived by two sisters, Bette Erb of Lynnwood, Washington and Doris Drake of Eagle Point, Oregon; three children, Junetta McCoy of Fort Smith, Loretta Gedosh of Fort Smith, and Jim Whiteaker of Oakland, California; four grandchildren, Pamela Ray of Concord, California, Andrea Gedosh of Concord, California, David Gedosh of Norman, Oklahoma, and Michael Gedosh of Fort Smith; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Judith and Award Gould of Poteau, Oklahoma; two sisters, Margaret Chitwood and Florence Jones both of Poteau, Oklahoma; three brothers, Homer Gould of San Bernardino, California, Ace Gould and Bill Gould, both of Poteau, Oklahoma.
Pallbearers will be Michael Gedosh, David Gedosh, John Chitwood, Phil Chitwood, Don Chitwood, Larry Bohannon and Russell Tucker.
The service will be held on Monday, June 21, 2010, at Grace Manor Memorial Chapel in Poteau, Oklahoma at 10:00 a.m. with Bro. Wayne Hoffman officiating. Viewing of the body will be 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home and the family will be available to greet friends from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. (No viewing Saturday). The internment of the body will be at Fairview Cemetery near Panama, Oklahoma immediately following the service.
Flowers or donations in her name to the Alzheimers Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Ave., 7th Floor, New York, NY 10001, will be welcomed.
