Obituary for
Marie (Gonzales) Yazzie
Marie Yazzie, 87 of Keota, OK, passed away, February 25, 2013, in Spiro. She was born January 17, 1926, in San Ildefonso Pueblo, New Mexico, Robert and Rose (Cata) Gonzales. She was of Catholic faith and received her education at Fort Lewis College, Durango, CO. Marie was retired from the Bureau of Indian Affairs where she held the position of Supervisory Instructional Aid G5-4.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband of fifty years Kee H. Yazzie, Sr.; a son Kee H. Yazzie, Jr.; two brothers Rain Bird Gonzales and Tse-Pi Gonzales; two grandchildren, Kris Anglen and Virginia Nashalook.
Marie is survived by a son Leonard L. and wife Virgie Yazzie of Page, AZ; two daughters, Regina and husband Davis Nashalook of Anchorage, AK and Roberta Y. and husband Dennis Anglen of Keota, OK; daughter-in-law Myra Yazzie of Barnsdall, OK; a brother Donald Gonzales of Santa Fe, NM; nine grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and a host of other family members, friends and loved ones.
Service will be held at 12:00 noon, Monday, March 4, 2013, at the San Ildefonso Catholic Church, San Ildefonso, New Mexico, with Father Larry Brito officiating. Interment will be at 2:15 p.m. Monday following the service at the National Cemetery, Santa Fe, N.M.
