Obituary For
Michael Reid Gist
Mike Gist, 69, of Wister, OK, passed away Saturday, January 7, 2017, in Muskogee, OK. He was born April 22, 1947, at San Diego, CA to LaFayette and Ethel Mae (Hines) Gist. He was a member of Heavener High School class of 1965, a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Vietnam, and worked in construction.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents.
Mike is survived by two sisters, Denise Chitwood and husband Steve of Wister and Karen Hall and husband Randy of Poteau, nieces and nephews, Angela Wade, Leslie Wade and husband Ben Davidson, Scott and Tami Wade, Joe Wade, Kirstie Thomas, Seth Hall and Zane Hall, great nieces Lyla and Nia Davidson, as well as a host of other family members, friends and loved ones.
Pallbearers will be Dan Cook, Dean Covey, C.W. Covey, Larry Poland, Stanley Jones and Sammy Bennett. Honorary pallbearers will be Roger Clubb, Melvin McKay, Wayne White, Glen Kitchens, Charlie Coleman, Marilyn Pledger, Larry Faulkenberry and Johnny Warren.
Service will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, January 13, 2017, at Grace Manor Memorial Chapel, Poteau OK, with Pastor David Browning officiating. Interment will follow service at 2:00 p.m. at Fort Smith National Cemetery, Fort Smith, AR. The family will greet friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
