Michael (Mike) Allen Gruss was born on March 22,1948 in Akron Ohio to James and Audrey Gruss, and passed away July 20,2020 in his home in Panama Okla.
Mike is preceded in death by his parents James and Audrey Gruss, his brothers Paul and John Gruss, a sister Kathleen Starcher, Father in law Jack Pierce Mother in law Margaret Pierce, Brother in law Wayne Myers, and the love of his life Frankie Gruss. Mike is also preceded in death by his special foster parents Art and Irene Karst.
Mike is survived by his brothers David (Faith) Gruss, Jerry Gruss, Harvey Gruss, Richard (Rose) Gruss, Larry (Judy) Gruss all of Wisconsin. Sisters Louise (Owen) Dunlap of KS, Patricia (John) Locke of Tx., Audrey (Ken) Kawlewski of IL., Mary (Brian) Davies of Wis.
Special foster sisters Bobbi Retzlaff of Wis., and Ann (Ron) Behringer of NC.
Mike is also survived by his daughters Tracy (Ben) Glynn of Florida, Robin (Chris) Grizzle of Ok, and sons Jerry Lindsey of AR, Terry (Eulene) Lindsey OK, Jeff Lindsey of OK, Tracey Lindsey of FL, and Sean (Hope) Lindsey of AR. 16 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Mike was 1 of 13 children and grew up in Wisconsin he graduated from Beaver Dam High School. He married Frankie on July 25, 1975 in Pocatello Idaho and soon moved to Panama OK where they made their home and raised their family. Mikes profession was a truck driver. He took great pride in his work and received many awards over his years of work. Mike also worked in the oilfield for a short time. He made friends everywhere he worked and many have remained lifelong friends.
Mike loved his friends and family. He was always willing to help when needed and would give a stranger the shirt off of his back or the last dollar in his wallet. Mike was a long-time member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and enjoyed being a part of dinners, fund raisers, and dances. He and Frankie especially loved and looked forward to the Christmas party every year. After retirement Mike purchased a Trike, he and Frankie enjoyed riding and taking trips with dear friends. Mikes pride and joy was his family, he loved his children and grandchildren and was always willing to brag a little when he was given the chance. Mike was a very special Dad, Poppa, Uncle, brother and friend. He will be missed by everyone that his life touched.
Memorial service will be Saturday, November 7,2020 at 1pm at F.O.E
(Fraternal Order of Eagles) in Spiro, Oklahoma. Cremation is under the direction of Grace Funeral Service Poteau, Oklahoma.
Any flowers can be delivered to the funeral home.
