Modena Flora McConnell of Poteau, Oklahoma was born September 22, 1931 in Red Star, Arkansas to Will and Manda (Sparks) Hodge and passed away November 23, 2019 in Poteau, Oklahoma at the age of 88.
Modena is survived by her husband Rev. Harold L. McConnell, her children Connie and Gary Watling, Bill and Pat McConnell, David McConnell, Diana and Jim Winkler, and Jamie and Gary DeWitt, a brother Gene Hodge, sisters Nadine Alexander and Maxine Noe, grandchildren James, Rory, Scarlet, Misty, Chadd, Diana Marie, Kasey, Hannah, Caleb, Josiah, Shane, and Amy, twenty four great grandchildren as well as a host of other family, friends and loved ones.
Modena was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Kenneth Hodge, sisters Daisy Edgmon, Mildred Clayborn, and Walcie Edgmon, a grandson Jacob McConnell.
Pallbearers will be Chadd Starnes, Caleb Starnes, Josiah Starnes, Rory McConnell, Shane Oxford, and James Watling.
Services will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday November 30, 2019 at First Baptist Church Poteau, Oklahoma with Rev. Tommie Parker officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Cemetery Fort Smith , Arkansas. The family will greet friends Friday from 6-9pm at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Grace Funeral Service of Poteau, Oklahoma
