Opal A. Hale
Opal Hale, 98, of Cameron, Oklahoma, passed away Thursday, November 30, 2017, in Spiro, OK. Opal was born on July 8, 1919, to James Ism and Ida Adel (Drury) Pendergrass, at Keota, OK. She married Josh Hale on October 10, 1936, at Fairview, near Neff Spur, Oklahoma. Opal made Fair Hill Cemetery her lifetime project. Throughout her adult life you could find her at the cemetery making improvements by painting, raking leaves, shoveling dirt, etc. in all seasons. She spent many, many years raising funds to improve the cemetery and provide a beautiful resting place for her family members, friends, neighbors, and people of the Knot Hole Community.
Opal was preceded in death by her parents, husband Josh Hale, son Johnny Lee Hale, grandson Michael David Evans, two sisters and three brothers.
She is survived by one son, Carl Hale and wife Sharon of Gainesville, Texas, two daughters, Malinda Sue Howard and husband Dayne of Annapolis, Maryland, and Shelva Jean Evans, of Cameron, Oklahoma, five grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and loved ones.
A Celebration of Life Services will be held Saturday, December 2, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. in the pavilion at Fair Hill Cemetery, Cameron, OK, with Bro. Jeff Little officiating. Interment will follow service at Fair Hill Cemetery. The family will greet friends today (Friday) from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to Fair Hill Cemetery Association, 17994 Quays Rd., Cameron, OK 74932.
