Obit for Nan Williams
Oran Nan Carter Williams, of Talihina, Oklahoma, passed away on October 26, 2009, at the age of 58 years. Nan was born on June 22, 1951 to E.S. Bogue Carter and Nora Louise Hunter in Whitesboro, Oklahoma. She attended Whitesboro Public School, Eastern Oklahoma State College, and Southeastern Oklahoma State University, where she obtained a Masters Degree in Education. Nan taught school for 27 years, most of which was spent at Idabel High School, and retired in 2004. She loved Western music, the Chicago Cubs, Oklahoma History, reading, traveling and, above all, being with her two grandchildren.
Nan was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Mark Carter, Sr.
She is survived by her daughter, Stella Williams Butler and her son-in-law, Neil Butler, of Chandler, Oklahoma; two grandchildren, Audrey Butler and Brady Butler, of Chandler, Oklahoma; three step-grandchildren, Erica Coulter, of Battiest, Oklahoma, Tyler Butler of Battiest, Oklahoma, and Megan Jenkins of Del City, Oklahoma; two step-great-grandchildren, Weston Butler of Chandler, Oklahoma and Mason Coulter of Battiest, Oklahoma; a niece, Cheryl Carter-Hamilton of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; a nephew, Mark Carter, Jr. of Centerton, Arkansas; and numerous relatives and friends.
Service will be at 11:00 AM, Thursday, October 29, 2009, at Grace Manor Memorial Chapel , Poteau, OK, with Jeff Little officiating. Services under the direction of Grace Manor Funeral Home of Poteau.
