Robert Michael Mike Ferguson, Sr.
Robert Michael Mike Ferguson, Sr. of Shady Point, Oklahoma, has gone to be with the Lord on March 6, 2017. Mike has been reunited in heaven with his precious wife of forty-four years, Marcia Faye (Nickelson) Ferguson. She was his little loverduck, and they are together again, now and forever.
Mike was born in Washington, MO, in December of 1951, and resided in the area until joining the military. Mike proudly served in the United States Army, earning several awards and medals while serving in Viet Nam, Germany and stateside. He married the love of his life in 1971, during that service and the couple had two children. After his military career, Mike worked with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers as a surveyor and later a boat operator. He retired in April 2003, after thirty dedicated years to this great nation.
Mike is survived by his son, Robert M. Ferguson, Jr. and his wife Angie; his daughter Sandra L. LaForest and her husband Brett; his grandchildren, Jenna Lockaby, Brittany Lamb, Kimber Lockaby, Brenden Ferguson; step grandchildren, Laura Coughran, Sarah Coughran, Dennis Coughran, Jr. and Fiona LaForest; his great grandchild, Kirby Bailey and Step great grandchildren Britany, Shelby, Dalton, Dylan, Jaxon, Rylee, Marlee and Finlee; his brother Joseph Ferguson and also several nieces, nephews, cousins and inlaws.
Mike is preceded in death by his father Vernon H. Ferguson, Sr. and mother, Martha M. (Slocum) Ferguson, his brothers Vernon Jr., John and Charles Ferguson and his sister Leslie Ferguson.
Robert Michael Ferguson was and always will be remembered as a strong, loyal, and loving husband, father and grandfather who dedicated his life to family and country. We were truly blessed by God that he was ours. We miss him but know he is home.
Memorial service will be held at Grace Manor Memorial Chapel in Poteau, OK, on Saturday, March 11 at 2:00 p.m. Grace Manor Funeral in charge of arrangements. You may leave an on-line greeting to the family at www.gracemanorfh.com
