Darlene Taylor, 80, of Wister, Ok, passed away Monday, July 4, 2016, in Pocola, OK. She was born Feb. 29, 1936, to Rob and Ethel (Waymire) Hamner at Heavener, Oklahoma. She held a bachelors degree in English from University of Oklahoma and a masters degree in Language Arts from South Eastern. She taught high school English for more than 40 years followed by some of her most rewarding years of teaching second graders how to read.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her first husband of thirty-one years and the father of her children Don Martin and her second husband of twenty two years Don Taylor, ten brothers and sisters, a grandson Brad Fields and son-in-law Dr. Bob Fields.
She leaves behind her children Eddie Martin of Ft. Smith, AR, and Donna Fields of Wister, OK, grandchildren Bryan Fields and wife Erin of Wister, OK, Beth Phillips and husband Adam of Wister, OK, Don Martin of Hartford, AR, great grandchildren, Mackenzey, Fynn, Graham, Nolan, Owen, Eden, Dawson and one on the way, a sister Eva Jean Dews of Wilburton, OK, as well as a host of other family members and friends.
Pallbearers will be Adam Phillips, Mac Patterson, Don A. Martin, Steve Bryan, Ronnie Dupree, Lyle Bradshaw, Larry Mabry, Jerry Carpenter and Lane Carpenter.
Services will be held at 10:00AM,Thursday, July 7, 2016, at Bethel Baptist Church, Wister, OK, with Pastor Bryan Fields officiating. Interment will follow services at Ellis Chapel Cemetery, Wister, OK. Services are under the direction of Grace Manor Funeral Home, Poteau, OK.
