Wanda L. Doty, 85, of Poteau and The Oaks Healthcare Center, died Thursday, May 29, 2014. She was born in Bloomington, Illinois, on August 20, 1928, to Arthur Lee and Margurite Anna Daney. Wanda was very proud to be of the Choctaw heritage and was a very religious person. Her education included Masters Degrees in Education and Counseling and she completed all class work towards her doctorate degree. Most of her career was spent teaching and conseling Native American students.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
Wanda is survived by two daughters, Sherry and husband Jim Huber of Nevada and Brenda Canavan and husband Rodney Martin of Poteau; sister Dru Paine of Mesa, AZ; brother Don Daney of Scottsdale, AZ; four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; numerous other family members, friends and loved ones.
