Wendy Martin, 46, of Poteau, Oklahoma passed away April 27, 2015, at their family home. She was born October 1, 1968 in Ely, Nevada, to Johnny and Midge Mixon of Shady Point, Oklahoma. She spent most of her childhood in Baggs, Wyoming where she enjoyed horses, sports and many other outdoor activities. She was active in her church, worked in sales and dedicated her life to fitness and healthy living. She was a loving daughter, devoted wife, fantastic aunt and amazing sister.
Wendy is survived by her parents of Shady Point, Oklahoma; husband, Robert Martin, of Poteau; his two sons, Scott Martin, wife Sarah and grandson Isaac of Benton, Arkansas and Randall Martin of Poteau; as well as his two daughters, Kayleigh Burns, husband Joshua and their son Zachary of Mansfield, Texas and youngest daughter Alex Martin of Poteau. She has one sister, Angie Allen, husband Keith and their two daughters, Shannon and Cheyanne Allen of Las Vegas, Nevada.
The family will hold a memorial service at Shady Point Cemetery at 2:00 on Saturday afternoon with a celebration of life dinner at her parents home in Shady Point afterward. Wendy was a childhood diabetic and felt that the ADA had made an amazing impact on the face of Diabetes research and treatment during her lifetime.
