Obituary For
William Samuel Charlton
William Samuel Charlton, 67, of Cameron, OK, passed away Saturday, January 6, 2018, surrounded by many of his family. He was born March 18, 1950 in Freecenter, OK, to Jess and Pearlie (Osborn) Charlton. He was a retired machinist for Whirlpool Corporation. William enjoyed playing his guitar and singing, hunting, and fishing and he loved writing songs and singing Hank Williams, and George Jones songs. He loved attending Hank Williams Jr. concerts and going to Loretta Lynns Place. He took two of his songs to have them record but they wanted him to record in his voice first, however he was never able to get it recorded before he got sick. He loved working in his garden, collecting crystal rocks and arrowheads, and he loved to cook deer meat. He will be greatly missed.
William was preceded in death by his parents, and a nephew James Coffey.
William is survived by four sisters, Silva E. Coffey of Williams, OK, Ruby J. Hammonds of Pocola, OK, Rozetta Childers of Poteau, OK, Fran Rounsavall and husband Jim of Van Buren, AR, two brothers, John Charlton of Mena, AR, Tommy Charlton and wife Mary of Wister, OK, caregiver niece Joyce Smith-Todd and husband Brent of Crowder, OK, nieces and nephews, Marian James Cunningham, John Ray Childers, Billy R. Childers, Amanda DeGeusti, Greg and wife Jennifer Charlton, Kelly Johnson, Sheila Brewer and husband, and Toni Charlton, numerous cousins, as well as a host of extended family and friends.
Pallbearers will be.
Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 10, 2018, at Grace Manor Memorial Chapel, Poteau, OK with Elder Gary Lanto officiating. Interment will follow service at Greenhill Cemetery, Cameron, OK. Viewing will be Tuesday 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Grace Manor Funeral Home, Poteau, OK.
