W. R. "Bill" Seale, 85, of Poteau, OK, passed away Wednesday, January 17, 2018, in Poteau. He was born September 10, 1932 in Belgreen, AL, to George Robert and Tiny Leo (Hester) Seale. He married Millus L. Miller on June 17, 1953 in Danville, IL. Bill was a veteran of the U. S. Airforce, LeFlore County Deputy and Under Sheriff for seven years from 1956 - 1963 and served the City of Poteau from 1965 to 1986 as Chief of Police. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church in Poteau.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters Mary Ruth Strickland and Louise Malone.
Survivors include his wife of sixty-five years, Millus Seale of the home, two sons, William R. Seale II and wife Rebecca and James M. Seale and wife Shirley all of Poteau, sisters, Grace Hamilton of Russellville, AL and Sue Vest and husband Edward of Hartselle, AL, two brothers, Jim B. Seale and wife Janice of Strongfield, OH and Donnie Seale of Russellville, AL, granddaughters, Leslie Yochum and husband Dennis, Joni Hagelberger and husband Adam, and Tierney Seale all of Poteau, grandson Aaron Seale and wife Joy of Tulsa, OK, great-granddaughters, Candice and Cailey Yochum, Tristin, Blair and Chloe Hagelberger all of Poteau, sisters-in-law, Betty Miller of Poteau, Pat Miller of Midwest City, OK and Carolyn Borneman of Conway, AR, as well as a host of extended family, loved ones and friends.
Pallbearers will be Todd Peters, Rick Couri, Jim Fesperman, Bob Carter, Bob Hendricks, Paul Mode, Lance Smith, and Detroy Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Poteau Police Department and LeFlore County Sheriffs Department.
Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 20, 2018, at Southside Baptist Church, Poteau, OK with Pastor Jim Reed, Bro. Garry Haskins and Jim Seale officiating. Interment will follow service at Oakland Cemetery, Poteau, OK. Viewing Thursday 12:00 noon to 8:00 p.m., Friday 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. You may offer condolence to the family from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday evening at Grace Manor Funeral Home, Poteau, OK.
